It is a very common question people ask, how much water should we drink in a day? It’s difficult to determine when and when the “eight glasses per day” rule first appeared.
According to some views, it may be based on a fluid consumption of 1 ml for every calorie absorbed in food. For someone following a diet of 2,000 calories per day, this equals up to 2,000 ml (approximately 64 ounces), or eight 8-ounce glasses.
Should We Drink 6 to 8 Glasses of Water Everyday
However, a growing body of evidence suggests that this general suggestion may be too much water for some people and not enough for others. While there are undoubtedly situations where a person’s requirement for water increases, healthy individuals typically don’t require such a high water intake.
On the other hand, mild dehydration, which is defined as the loss of 1-2% of body weight due to fluid loss, can result from not drinking enough water. You may feel worn out, have headaches, and be depressed in this state.
As we know that water intake is a must to stay hydrated. But in order to stay hydrated and avoid mild dehydration, you don’t need to carefully follow the eight glasses rule — simply follow your thirst. Also, instead of taking plain water, you can use water-based fruits and vegetables.
