Weight Loss Myths That Can Ruin Your Diet

These Weight Loss myths can really harm your diet. Many people are obsessed with dieting. There is so much information bombarding us every day that just overwhelms us and can be confusing many times. Diet pills, low-fat snacks, exercise machines, diet tips, new diet books, all this conflicting information can only make your head hurt and it is difficult to choose the right diet.

The problem is that if some advices work for some people, it may not work for everyone. Therefore it is important to find some truths behind those diet tips.

Weight Loss Myths That Can Ruin Your Diet
Myth #1: There’s no need to count calories
Actual fact: It is important to count calories
This is a must-do because people tend to underestimate their calories and overestimate their physical activity. Instead of estimating your caloric intake, you should keep a food diary, writing down everything you eat along with the corresponding calories and the
physical activity.

Myth #2: You should always eat breakfast
Actual fact: You should eat in the morning, but not right after you woke up.
You don’t have to eat a big breakfast immediately after you woke up, because you are probably not even hungry so early. It is best to eat somewhere in the first three hours after waking up. However, it is pretty important to eat in the morning; otherwise, you will get very hungry and tend to eat much more during the day.

Myth #3: No snacks, eat 3 times a day
Actual fact: you can eat whenever you want, as long as you maintain your calorie intake
Whether you eat 3 times a day or maybe 6 times a day, you can do it if you don’t outnumber your calories. However, eating at least 3 times a day will help you not to get hungry all the time.

Myth #4: No eating at night
Actual fact: Calories don’t actually know what time it is
It is more important how much you eat, rather than when you do it. You should, however, keep in mind that a big meal in the evening will take a lot of time to digest and keep you awake more, so choose something more lightly to end the day.

Myth #5: Carbohydrates are making you fat
Actual fact: These are necessary if you want to have a balanced diet
Calories make you fat, not carbohydrates. So it is important to eat a moderate amount, but it is even more important what you eat along with your carbohydrates. For example, different sauces or butter on pasta will definitely add some calories to your meal.

Myth #6: Just exercise and don’t worry about your diet
Actual fact: Exercising is good, but it is not enough
It just will not burn enough calories. If you eat a lot, you will not manage to work out enough so that you do not put on weight. Exercising is good, even recommended, but you will still have to cut some calories if you want to lose weight.

Myth #7: Cut out dessert
Actual fact: you shouldn’t deprive yourself of sweets
The downfall of all diets is deprivation. You can be on a diet and still have a small satisfying dessert. All you need to do is be careful with the portions and how many times you have something sweet. Make your own diet plan and decide when the best time to have a treat is and how much are you allowed to eat.
