What to Expect From Your Spa Day

What to Expect From Your Spa Day

A spa day can be a fantastic way to relax either alone or with friends and is the perfect way to pamper yourself and feel rejuvenated and healthy. However, lots of people worry about the structure of a spa day as they don’t know what to expect, so help is at hand in the form of our handy guide to spa days so that you know what is coming.

Expectation From Your Spa Day

When you arrive, you will be sent to a changing area where you can get changed into your spa robe and flip flops and remove your makeup. Don’t worry about feeling self-conscious as everyone will be in the same boat! If you plan on using the pool or hot tub, now is the time to don your swimming gear, though do bear in mind that if you’ll be having a massage or body treatment that this might need to be at least partially removed.

If you have pre-booked any treatments, you will be reminded where you need to go for these and at what time so that you can plan the rest of your day around them.

A smart move can be to head to the sauna or steam room first to open up your pores and make your skin more receptive to the other treatments throughout the day. Bear in mind that the swimming pool can strip the skin of its natural oils and dry it out, so if you’re having a body treatment, make sure you swim before, rather than after.

When you go in to have a massage or a treatment such as a body wrap, you will be asked to remove your robe and lie down on the table and get yourself comfortable. You will likely be able to select the type of music you would like, if any, before discussing with the masseuse what you would like to get out of the session. For relaxation, a softer touch with oils such as lavender and rose can work really well, whereas to ease tense muscles, a firmer massage can be more beneficial.

You will stay in your robe all day, even at lunch, so you can continue to feel relaxed throughout the entire day. You will most likely be offered champagne or some other kind of alcohol, so feel free to enjoy a drink, but remember that it can be dehydrating, so don’t overindulge and undo the day’s good work!
